At the start of 2026, Brinsbury college reached out to ask me whether i could come and provide a demonstration to their current students. I attended brinsbury college myself from 2020 to 2022 as a student on the level 3 equine course which allowed to gain the correct requirements needed for acceptance into my veterinary physiotherpay course at Writtle University. Returning to the college definitely felt like a full circle moment!
The session started with me explaining the role of veterinary physiotherapy, followed by a demonstration of some of the techniques we use to assess and treat equines as well as an in-depth discussion of the reasoning behind such techniques. Following this, students weren then allowed to practice some basic massage and stretching techniques on the college horses, allowing them to also apply this to their horses at home. Students were then given the opportunity to ask questions including the route i took to get into veterinary physiotherapy, what it is like to work out in the veterinary physiotherapy industry and how their can support their own horses musculoskeletal system.
It was a pleasure to be invited back and to also see the staff members and horses. It was lovely to meet some of the current students and provide them with an insight into the different routes that students can take into the equine industry once they have completed their course.
